Type Kita Exhibit

Got nothing to do this weekend? Well, check out TYPE KITA EXHIBIT
at 10a Alabama, Quezon City
TYPE KITA is filled with type-goodies from here & abroad, featuring works, events and people that celebrate anything and everything type-related. The EXHIBIT is always FOR A CAUSE.

Among the artists listed, few of them are selling their works a well and what's more exciting is aside from PURCHASING their creations, you will also get the opportunity to MEET and INTERACT with them.
The place was really AMAZING and I want to SHARE some of the photos I took by myself.
Check my Instagram Account (@gellibeans) and I'll be posting more ARTSY photos SOON.
This is just a TWO-DAY EVENT and you still have until tomorrow October 19, 2014 to visit and make the most of it. So if you're intending to go there here's the MAP and DIRECTIONS.
In addition, when you're commuting, look for HEMADY SQUARE, the one with lot of establishments or that yellow building named PGHI HOTEL then turn right at the middle of these two and 10a Alabama is just few blocks away.
Actually it's easy to locate cause of it's UNIQUE APPERANCE and it's BIG SIGNAGE.
Here's the SCHEDULE OF EVENTS that you might wanna join.

Today, October 18 I joined the Calligraphy session with Ms. Fozzy, Ms. A and Dra. Gail. Most of the artists learned Calligraphy just by themselves that makes it more interesting to me. But let me tell you first what's the difference of TYPOGRAPHY and CALLIGRAPHY. Well, they say in TYPOGRAPHY you write letters while in CALLIGRAPHY you draw letters.

Anyway, the session was just about Practicing, Tips and Open Forum Questions and here are some of the things that I've learned.

LEARNINGS:
- Don't write directly to the paper put a newspaper under it to PREVENT it from bleeding.
- In comparison of the Nibs, the BRONZE ones are the normal ones and easy to break they recommend to buy or use the STEEL OR JAPANESE NIBS cause it's  much STEEPER.
- HUMIDITY and HEAT influences the ink, adjust it by adding at least 2 drops of water for it to be flowy.
- Rinse the Nibs as MUCH as possible to last longer.
- In storing the Nibs their tips is to put the NEW NIBS in an air tight container with silicon gels, while the OLD NIBS in a cotton pouch to breathe freely.
- Sad to say there's no prevention for your nibs not to rust but cleaning it and storing it properly will help them to last longer.
- With the PAPERS use the smooth ones like RHODIA, CORONA or BLUE FEATHER as suggested by them. But luckily if you we're in Bacolod just like Dra. Gail she highly recommend to buy the VISION brand bond papers cause it's really smooth!
 - For NEWBIES start using the BASIC FONTS first, learn the stroke by stroke principles of the letters and when you think that you mastered them already then it's time experiment in breaking the rules and to know your unique fonts that makes yours differ from the others.
- Lastly, Ms. Fozzy stated that "WHAT YOU ENVISION STARTS THERE" she suggests to turn off your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any social networking site while working because these influences you what others do, you must be CREATIVE to be UNIQUE from the others.
Overall it was a 10/10 event for me,
I really enjoyed it and also even get some freebies from the artists.
I stayed there for almost 5 hours and yes it was tiring but an INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE. It was my FIRST TIME and everything's  WORTH IT with my 50php. I met new friends and learned new lessons. I'm pretty sure that there will be a PART 3 next year and I can't wait!

xx
